From the very first project we’ve done since we moved in, I’ve had the same mindset: just do it. There are so many factors I could have (maybe should have) considered but instead, if I liked something I went for it.
We questioned the white walls, the black doors, the painted cabinets – basically all of the bigs projects we have done so far. You know the best part? It could all be fixed if we ended up hating it. It might have taken some time but it could have been changed back.
The most recent item we weren’t so sure about – this coffee table.
I loved it online but when I opened the box it was way smaller than I thought it would be. It looked odd for this space. My husband agreed. I immediately emailed the company back saying I was going to return it. Then I gave it a couple of days and it really grew on me. We got so many compliments on it!
I also wasn’t sure about this entertainment stand I found on Amazon but it fit the space perfectly! I promise it hasn’t all miraculously worked out like this. Trial and error has been my best friend.
Moral of the story: if you’re re-doing your house and you want to do something, DO IT. It can always be painted over, patched up, or returned (unless you knock down a wall – that’s a different story…). Experiment and see what happens. You never know unless you try!
What house projects are you working on? What mistakes have you made? I want to hear about it!
